The
Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan presents for a Central
Parliamentary System of government, with President as the Head of State and
the usually elected Prime Minister as Head of government. The Federal
Legislature or Administration is a bicameral Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament),
composed of the National Assembly and the Senate. The Constitution also
offers for the President to address the two Houses accumulated together at
the commencement of the first meeting after General Elections.
There are a total
of 342 seats in the National Assembly. As of 2006, there are 72 women
members in the Assembly
