Benazir bhutto

Benazir Bhutto: The first Woman of Muslim world who became the Prime minister of Pakistan at the age of only 35.  Benazir Bhutto was the pride of Muslim world.  She was the eldest daughter of the former Prime minister of Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.  She was born in Karachi on 21 of June 1953. She faced many fluxes and refluxes in her life and finally she died for the great cause of Democracy.  Bhutto and her father, both gave their lives fighting against dictatorship in Pakistan and for Democracy.

Bhutto completed primary education in Pakistan she cleared O-level exam when she was 15 years old.  Bhutto went to United States of America for further studies as she got admission in Political science at Radcliffe College, Harvard University; she became a graduate in 1973.  After completing graduation in Political science she went to United Kingdom as she joined Oxford University Bhutto went there to study Philosophy, Economics and Politics.  During graduation she was the member of Phi Beta Kappa. Bhutto was elected to the standing committee of the prestigious Oxford Union at Harvard University Radcliffe college.  She was the first Muslim woman who led the prestigious debating union.

Bhutto, in 1987 got married to Asif Ali Zardari; she got three children Bilawal, Bakhtawar and Asifa.  Bhutto was an ideal mother she not only brought her children according to the rules and principles of Islam but also she kept them in touch with the modernized world and taught them how to live a successful and peaceful life.

In 1988 Bhutto was elected as a prime minister of Pakistan for first time in the Muslim world a lady came in power to lead a Muslim state.  She kept on running government till 1990 but in August the President Ghulam Ishaq Khan threw her out of government as she was accused for corruption.  In 1993 she again got the power and got back in the office but again she was compelled to leave the office for the reason of corruption again the President sent her out of the office.  Bhutto life was full of adversities as her father was hanged by the General Zia ul haq in 1979. After the demise of her father she elected as a co-chairperson to Pakistan peoples party. She was kept under house arrest while her father was in the jail and after her father’s death she went to London in exile.

In 1988 PPP won the highest number of seats in National assembly now she became the Prime minister of Pakistan and also she became the first woman in the whole world leading a state.  The President Ghulam ishaq khan kicked out Bhutto’s government in 1990.  In 1993 PPP again got the highest seats in National assembly and again Bhutto became the Prime minister of Pakistan.  This time she was thrown out of the office by the President Farooq laghari for the reason of alleged corruption.  So many corruption files were opened for Bhutto but she never stepped back and fought bravely against the corruption cases.

Bhutto went to Dubai in exile that she imposed on herself.  During living in exile she lived with her children and her mother, she kept in close contact with her political party’s members and workers during exile.  In the election of 2002 her party secured highest votes but Musharraf changed the constitution ‘s article regarding getting power third time according to this changing the person who had elected two times as a prime minister could not fight for third time.  In 2006 she announced to come back to Pakistan but due to some adjustments with the Chief of army staff Gen: Pervez Musharraf she couldn’t came back to Pakistan.  She had a dialogue with Musharraf she demanded him to leave the seat of Chief of Army staff, she succeeded and Musharraf left the seat but he was elected as a President of Pakistan for 5 years again.  Musharraf signed the reconciliation ordinance and gave the Bhutto amnesty for corruption cases and also took back the amendments that he had made about electing as a Prime minister third time.  Now by these leniencies that have been given by the President Musharraf Bhutto can take the hold as a prime minster of Pakistan third time.

After signing the reconciliation ordinance, Benazir Bhutto announced to come back to Pakistan for taking part in election 2008.  Bhutto returned with the great welcome by the crowd of over20 million people at the airport of Karachi on 18 October 2007. She knew about the dangers that she had for her life, but despite of all dangers she returned and she was attacked by terrorist but by the Grace of Allah she escaped from the attack although terrorist tried to kill her in a suicide bomb blast not only that but they were also shot her bullet proof van provided by the government of Pakistan.  After that she wrote a letter to the President Musharraf and pointed out the names of suspected attackers that could took her life according to her.  But Government of Pakistan was not only failed to satisfied her but also provide her enough and satisfactory security.

After a DEAL between Bhutto and Musharraf , the political environment of Pakistan had been changed dramatically and Musharraf announced election date in Pakistan, after the announcement of election all political parties started their election campaign but most of the political parties decided to boycott the election because they were against Musharraf as he re-elected as President by the assembly which had completed its duration of 5 years.  Bhutto was looking very hopeful for the election, as it had been decided that the next Prime minister of Pakistan would from PPP.

PPP leader, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto started attending corner meetings and rallies for election campaign, besides all these business everybody knew that her life is at a great risk, finally the day came in the history of Pakistan to write another dark history, it was the dark morning of Thursday Bhutto was looking very energetic and ambitious for bringing the democracy back in Pakistan she was thinking to change the lives of a common Pakistani by providing the basic needs of life she came back with a slogan of ROTI,KAPRA OR MAKAN , Bhutto came to deliver a speech in a corner meeting at Rawalpindi, she was very enthusiastic and in a patriotic way she started her speech and delivered historical words :

“ Ye dharti mujhay pukar rahi hai, aap ko pukar rahi hai, isi liyay mian aaj iss tareikhi liaqat baagh mein aai hun”

(This land is calling me, calling you, because of this I came to this historical Liaqat bagh)

And she was right; Liaqat bagh is a place, where in past an unknown killer shot the first Prime minster f Pakistan Liaqat Ali Khan.  When Bhutto finished her speech she left the election rally and she came outside of her to give the answer of the crowd’s slogans by waving her hands an attacker came and shot her and then set off a bomb, this attack finished the life of Bhutto and the lady with the great ideas were dead.

The demise of Bhutto left an irreplaceable space in the political history of Pakistan nobody can ever take the place of the great bhutto.  She was the lady of true promises, she was loyal with her country and nation, she wanted to do something for the needy and poor people of Pakistan, She was fighting for democracy.  Right after the demise of Bhutto Pakistan went down in an unrest situation, people were protesting against this dark act by the radical Muslims, government of Pakistan faced many difficulties to control all that situation.  The government of Pakistan declared that Taliban’s leader Bait ula mehsud did this assassination attack, but he declined.  Few days later an investigating team was invited to Pakistan from United Kingdom the Scott Land yard team investigated about the death cause of Bhutto according to their investigation She died because of the powerful explosion of the bomb the explosion was so intensive that the Bhutto’s head stroke with the lever of the sunroof of her vehicle.  It is still a mystery that who killed Bhutto.

PPP’s new co-chairperson and Bhutto’s husband Asif ali zardari and the other members of PPP urged the government to carry out the investigation of Bhutto’s assassination by UN but government has refused them.

Government postponed the election and thedate of election was changed, on 18 February election was held in Pakistan and PPP’s leaders and senior member decided to take part in the election to precede the mission of Bhutto as she always said DEMOCRACY IS THE BEST REVENGE.  PPP took the highest seats in the National assembly but Bhutto isn’t there to lead her party and nation.
