It was established in 1950 by the name of Pakistan petroleum, previously it was working by the name of Burmah Oil Company Limited, but it had major shares of its own and rest were the Pakistani government. In 1950, When Pakistan petroleum established Pakistan government shares were 78% while other 15- 16% shares holders are institutions and individuals.
