Medical College And Pakistan
In Pakistan there is a great shortage of doctors and according to an estimate that is made by W.H.O there is only a one doctor for 1,000 Pakistani people. The shortage of doctors is due to the shortage of medical colleges in Pakistan. There are only 32 medical colleges in Pakistan that are recognized and authorized by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC). Only sixteen medical colleges are working in government sectors and sixteen in private sector. It is very strange and bad to know that only sixteen medical colleges of Pakistan government that are recognized by PMDC, in the country of more than 160 million population. Pakistan government should take some serious steps for the betterment of the health and medical education sector. Every year 30,000 pupils passed intermediate premedical examination in first division but only 4000 get admission in government and private sector medical colleges. Pupils who can afford medical education abroad move abroad. But the main problem is that some foreign medical colleges are not recognized by PMDC so pupil's money and time both becomes useless and wasted and after coming back from abroad with MBBS degree they can not continue medical practice because their degrees are not recognized by PMDC. Government of Pakistan has to think about this serious matter. Private sector was invited to assist government of Pakistan in building more medical colleges, so PMDC allowed several medical colleges to train doctors and give medical education but private medical colleges are very expansive and only well-off people can afford to get education in private sector. To get recognized by PMDC  i.e. Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, a medical college whether it belongs to private sector or government sector must have to follow the rules and regulation set by PMDC  for quality education and skilled training of professionals.
