Noor Jehan

Noor jahan was the great female singer of South Asia. She was also a popular actress. Noor jahan sung approximately 10,000 songs both in Urdu and Punjabi language. She worked in both India and Pakistan films and sung songs for both countries. She was born in Punjab before the partition of South Asia (India and Pakistan). After partition she moved to Pakistan and then lived her life for Pakistan. She was a renowned singer of South Asia. She sung many unforgettable songs. She was also very loyal to her country Pakistan and sung many songs for Pakistan. Her voice holds the great impression and in the war of 1965 she sung many national songs live to encourage Pakistan army in the war field. Impressed by her sweet voice lots of young men joined the Pakistan army and fought for Pakistan. In that war Pakistan defeated India. Noor jahan is known as "Malika-e-Tarranum" which means "Melody Queen". She was the first female voice that recorded a "Qawali" in South Asia Indo-Pak region. She died by heart failure. She started her filmi career in 1935 as a "Baby Noor Jahan" and she sung her first filmi song and acted in her first film. She acted and sung songs in various movies in Pakistan and across Pakistan before partition, some important movies are: Koel, Mirza Ghalib, Anarkali, Dopatta, Mirza sahiban, Jadogar, Anmol Ghadi, Badi Maa, Bhai jaan, Nadaan, Faryad, Susral, Gul bakowly, Imandar and others. Noor jahan secured several awards for her work, she received first President's award in 1957 for the film "Intezar". She received "Tamghay-e-Imtiaz" (The pride of performance) in 1966, which is the biggest award of Pakistan. She was the best female voice and nobody can take her place. In 1996, she sung her last song for the film "Sakhi Badshah" the song was "Ki dam da bharosa yaar" and after that she said goodbye to music because of illness and finally in 2000 she said goodbye to this world where her millions fans miss her.
