| Sialkot is
located in the map of Pakistan in the province Punjab. Sialkot is an
important industrial
city of Pakistan as it is renowned for its export and
manufactures of sports goods, surgical instruments, textile goods, leather
goods, musical instruments and other stuff. People of Sialkot are well
aware of their good and bad, they are up to date and striving to build their
city according to modern world requirements. Climate of Sialkot is temperate
i.e. it becomes hot in summer and it becomes cold during winter, heavy rainfall
occurs during the season of monsoon. Sialkot has the most advanced weather
forecast system, which is assisted internationally. Sialkot is the twelfth
largest city of Pakistan.
Sialkot
is an important city of Pakistan according to its economical values. LSE has a
branch in Sialkot, which is named as Sialkot Trading Floor. EPB (Export
Promotion Bureau) and State Bank of Pakistan are also located in Sialkot
due to its economical importance. Sialkot is known as the city of poets: such as
Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Faiz Ahmad Faiz, Maulana Zafar Ali Khan and Amjad Islam
Amjad was born in Sialkot. Sialkot also gave birth to number of writers such as:
Rajinder Singh Bedi, Narendra Kohli, Zulfikar Ghose, Umera Ahmad and others.
Sialkot International Airport, which is constructed by private sector of Sialkot
city. This airport is the first private airport of Pakistan, which is
administrated by private sector “SIAL”. Sialkot Dr Port is the first dry port of
Asia, which is administrated by the Sialkot dry port trust. Another modern
trnsport pathway in the shape of Sialkot Lahore Motorway is under construction
in Sialkot. Important and famous educational institutes are : campus of Fatima
Jinnah Women University, a campus of Virtual University of Pakistan, Murray
College and others it alsp has a medical college named as Sailkot Medical
College, a poly technique institute and other important educational
institutes. University of Engineering Science and Technology Sialkot (UEST) is
under construction in collaboration with Royal Institute of technology, Sweden.
