Pakistan International Airlines (PIA):
Pakistan International Airlines is commonly called as PIA; it is the largest airline of Pakistan. Not only largest in Pakistan but also it is listed among the largest airlines of continent Asia. PIA is ranked as 6th largest airline in Asia. The headquarters of PIS is based in Karachi. It covers approximately 80 international destinations throughout Asia, North America, Europe and Middle East. It is based in Karachi, its destination are approximately 80 countries through out Asia, Europe, North America and Middle East. PIA is the national flag carrier airline of Pakistan and in this sense it is the official airline of Pakistan. It has three major bases that are working in three different major cities of Pakistan; these are Quaid-e Azam International Airport Karachi, Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad, Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore.
Brief History:
Previously, in the year 1946, before the separation of India nad Pakistan, Orient Airways founded in Calcutta, but right after the independence of Pakistan PIA established in the former capital and the largest of Pakistan Karachi.
PIA has a wide network of domestic destinations. PIA entered into the jet age in the year 1960. PIA introduced Boeing 707 and PIA became the first Asian airline that provided the jet aircraft services for the very first time in the continent Asia. Another interesting record is the recorded 7 hours flight from Karachi to London; this flight was carried out by Boeing 720. Other sub bases of PIA are located in the other major cities of Pakistan these include Quetta, Peshawar, Multan.
