Dow University of Health Sciences is currently one of the prestigious and leading medical universities of Pakistan. Formerly it was known as Dow Medical College, later on it granted the status of university by the Sindh government. It is situated in Karachi that is the largest city of Pakistan. Dow University of Health Sciences has a honor of being among the oldest institutions of the province Sindh. It was established in the year 1941 before the partition of India and Pakistan. It is located in the area of civil hospital near Jamia Cloth market. There is a very strict criteria to get enrolled at Dow university of health sciences because annually several thousands students through out the province sindh appears in the entry test and compete for only two seats, major seat cotta are offered for the Karachi board students as it is located in Karachi. Dow university of health sciences has a team of well trained professional doctors and surgeons that are not only committed to Pakistan but also they all committed to several international institutes and offering their services in different parts of the world. Dow University of health sciences was affiliated with the University of Karachi but in the year 2003 it was granted a status of independent university and other medical colleges that are Sindh Medical College and Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases were merged together in the single university.
