Make Money in a Home Business - 7 Things You
Should Consider Before You Invest By George
Kenney
Make money, lots of money in a home business? You know its possible, you also
know that you can invest a lot of money and your time in a home business and see
little or no results. What makes the difference? Is there any way that you can
increase your chances for positive results? I'll cover what I consider the top 7
things you should look at in a home business opportunity before you invest.
Better to ask a lot of questions before than live with regret after!
The first important item to consider is training. Who is responsible for the
training? Will you be trained at all or is it all up to you to learn the
products and services that you are offering? How extensive is the training? Does
your sponsor have a vested interested in training? These are all questions which
you should ask and feel comfortable with the answers before you invest. If the
company offers training when and how will you receive the training is important
also. Will the training schedule fit with your schedule? If you're currently
working full time and just starting your home business and the training is only
offered during business hours what are the alternatives? Is the training
archived? You certainly DO NOT want to invest with a company or sponsor who is
going to take your money and leave you on your own for training.
A very important consideration is your budget. After the initial investment,
what are the ongoing monthly or quarterly expenses? Remember that you're going
to have certain expenses, perhaps website hosting, 800 numbers, and other
business related items, its very important that you know in advance what these
expenses will be. Chances are if you are going to start a home business it will
be a business opportunity not a job. You can't expect to have a check coming to
you by the end of the week or in two weeks, it possible, just not likely.
Can the system be duplicated? Simply stated, if your sponsor is engaged in a
certain number of income producing activities and getting good results, if you
duplicate your sponsor's, or any successful person within the organization's
activities can you expect close to the same results. Is there a game plan or a
blueprint which you can follow which will take you to success? This is
duplication.
Next is leverage. You want to choose an opportunity which will allow you to
leverage your most important assets, mainly your time, your money, and your
technology. You want to use your time to reach hundreds or thousands of people,
not one or ten. You want to use your money in the same manner, place one
advertisement and reach thousands of people rather than place one phone call and
reach one person. You also want to be able to take every advantage of technology
in order to maximize the use of both your time and money. For example you can
hold one webinar and train people all over the world at the same time, that
effectively leverages your time, money, and technology. Its smart business.
What is the business structure? Is it an MLM, are there overrides how far down
do the overrides go in your downline? Are there "training sales" involved or can
you start making money with your first sale? A good example of this is what is
call the one-up or two-up. These are not MLM's, you simply pass your first one
or two "training sales" up to your sponsor with the expectation that everyone
you sponsor will do the same and you'll be receiving all of these passed up
"training sales". Something to keep in mind is that statistics show that within
these type of programs the average number of people sponsored by each enrollee
is less than three. After you've passed up two "training sales" where does that
leave you? Check out the business structure before you invest.
Marketing is certainly an important consideration. How will you market your
product or service? Will you market online? Another important consideration when
it comes to marketing is time versus money. Which do you have more of time or
money? If you have a lot of time when you are getting started you can be
involved in a lot of low cost or no cost marketing. If you have a lot of money
and virtually no time, you can pay the price in dollars and see the results.
Just something to consider.
What is the product or service? Is it something that has you jumping out of bed
in the morning with excitement? Are you truly enthusiastic about the product or
simply the prospect of the money you will be making? If you are truly excited
about the product or service you are selling you will do well and serve the
members of your team well. If you are only excited about the money you will be
making, you will still do ok, and everyone will know that you're just in it for
the money. Think about it.
